For the last 20.5 years I have had the privilege of educating many young children. This is my second year of teaching in Hickory City Schools. My own children are grown and live in Charlotte and Canton. I am the proud grandmother of a 2 year old. My husband is an United Methodist Minister and we have always lived in the western part of North Carolina.

In my spare time I enjoy reading and quilting. I am a huge Duke fan and live for basketball season.  My dog, Addie, keeps me active. We enjoy taking walks together.

When I can get a few days off  I head to the beach. I love the salt and sand and the smells of the beach. Reading on the beach is the best of everything.

I enjoy school so much that I almost went to college with my children. I have an AA degree from Brevard College. I continued my education at University of North Carolina at Charlotte and I earned by masters degree at Duke University. In order to teach I had to take education courses and completed my course work at Western Carolina University. 

I would finish one degree and then go back to school again. Teaching is what makes me happy. All my other careers have prepared me for teaching and make me a  better teacher.
